In Year 5 and Year 6 Art and Design club this term, children have been exploring ‘Seasonal Art’. Using the skills taught in the Year 5 topic ‘Mixed Media’, children used paper crafts such as origami, quilling and collage to create autumnal wreaths. Children used a range of autumn shades and colours in their work and created their wreaths using textured paper, card and a range of fabric materials.
Children have explored the work of Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet and how the use of brush strokes and the portrayal of light is created in impressionist paintings. Children have then used these skills to create a winter scene painting. To add more detail and colour to their work, children then used oil and chalk pastels.
