Summer Term 2024
Dear parents and carers
A busy few weeks in school again! We have seen Year 4 complete their residential, Pyjamarama Day, Year 6 SATs and various sports events.
Well done to Year 6 who approached their tests in a very mature manner. They made excellent use of the Breakfast Club where they were noted as being the tidiest year group ever and they also found the relaxation sessions useful at lunchtime. We know that tests only measure a tiny part of children's individual ability and capability and we know that no matter what, they all tried their very best. And their best is always good enough!
Thank you to our Year 5 volunteers who stepped in to some of the Year 6 roles which really helped us out. Year 5's will be having a Badgeholders assembly this week and a letter will go home to parents outlining what they need to do if they wish to apply for any of the Badgeholders roles for next year. Please look out for this and encourage your child to apply.
Mrs Arnold
Mixed Tag Rugby
The mixed tag rugby team represented our school in the Walsall Games Tag Rugby competition. We won 2, lost 1 and drew 1, coming third our group. Lindens and Goldsmith came joint first. All the games were extremely close and competitive and results could have gone either way, especially the draw; another five seconds and Henry would have completed his run down the wing unopposed and scored the winning try. A special mention to Simreet, our youngest player, who had just come back from residential and played in all the games, making some very important try-saving tags.
All players represented the school well and tried their hardest in very warm conditions.
Results:
PPF 4 Lindens 5
PPF 1 Goldsmith 1
PPF 5 Rivers 2
PPF 6 Brownhills West 0

Safety after school
We have recently had complaints from other parents and residents about the behaviour of some of our Year 6 pupils who walk home, or part of the way home. Although there are members of staff at the gate, we do not have the capacity to have staff members along the roads outside school and there are worries that:
1 - children are not being safe around parked cars/crossing the road
2 - children are bumping into younger children/parents and using unacceptable language
3 - behaving like this in school uniform can bring the school into disrepute.
We will act wherever this behaviour has been identified and it is possible that children will have their walk home privilege revoked. Please could you help us and remind your child about the safety and behaviour expectations if they leave school alone.
Could we also ask Nursery parents not to let any children through the gates when collecting their own child from Nursery. This is part of our safeguarding procedures. Those children will either be waiting for an adult or waiting to be buzzed through. Please also keep younger children near you as the site does get busy.
Year 4 Residential to Whitemoor Lakes
Last week, our Year 4 pupils went to Whitemoor Lakes for their residential visit. They had an amazing time, trying new skills, working collaboratively and finding out just what they were capable of!. They were exceptionally well behaved and received praise from the centre. We are very proud of them all!
Pyjamarama Day
Thank you for helping your children and the school to celebrate Pyjamarama Day on Friday!
The children had a thoroughly enjoyable day sharing their special books and stories - snuggly in their PJs - and reading with children from different year groups!
Nesting Camera
You may already know - as the KS2 children have been very excited about this - that we have a camera in one of our bird nesting boxes in the Nature Area. We stream 'live' to show the children whether there is any active use. We have got nesting birds and we have been waiting for the eggs to hatch.
We are pleased to say that this has now happened and there are 6 chicks (at least) inside the bird box and the children have been able to see the parent birds feeding them. We thought you may like to see a couple of the images!
Well Being Coffee Morning
We held a wellbeing coffee morning recently where a number of external agencies came into school to talk about their services - including Reflexions and Early Help.
This was an excellent way of sharing some of the support for children and families that is available in our locality.
If you were unable to make this, we do run termly coffee mornings where we share similar information. If you have any feedback about times or days that would better suit you or any topics you would like to hear more about, please contact Mrs Mayou.
