Autumn Term 2024
Dear Parents and Carers
Many, many thanks to all our children, families, friends, stall holders and staff who supported our Christmas Fayre on Friday. The evening started off with a beautiful Christmas Carol performance from our choir before our KS1 and KS2 dancers performed.
There were plenty of things to do, buy and take part in with all the games, tombolas, face paints, stalls etc and of course, the visit to Santa in his Grotto!
Every penny we raised at the event will go towards providing opportunities and resources for your children and enhancing the provision we have on offer for them.
We look forward to further seasonal events over the remaining 2 weeks of term - Reception Nativity, Breakfast with Santa in the Early Years Centre, parents sing-along in Nursery, our Christmas jumper and dinner day and our Year 5 Carol Service at Beacon Church.
Thank you again and we hope you all have a lovely weekend

Polite Request from Local Residents
Please could we remind parents that children should not be going onto the properties of people living in the local area. We have had reports that some parents are allowing their children to play on driveways and walls, in one instance this set a residents car alarm off. So please could you be mindful and ensure your children know this is not acceptable.
HSBC Maths World of Work
Last week, pupils in years 1-6 took part in Financial Education sessions that were led by an employee of HSBC, Manjit. Pupils learnt about different aspects of finance, appropriate for their age group. The Financial Education sessions were beneficial to all pupils and were enjoyed by both pupils and staff. As a result of School’s participation in these sessions, we were awarded with the Smart Money Award 2024 for the support of financial education for young people; Manjit presented the award to pupils during key stage assemblies. The award will be proudly displayed in the trophy cupboard located on the staircase in the main foyer.

Year 1 Trip
The children enjoyed their day at Sudbury Childhood Museum last Thursday.
They looked at old toys, learned about the jobs children had in Victorian times. They even had a lesson in a Victorian school!
Thank you to all the parent volunteers who came with us, we couldn’t run these trips without your help!
Miss Colman
Reception Trip
This week our Reception children went on their trip to Statfold Barn.
They had the most magical Christmas experience - decoration Christmas cookies, riding the train, posting letters to Santa and even meeting the man himself. Their behaviour was exemplary and the day was full enjoyed by everyone. Thank you to all our parent helpers and Staff!

Year 5/6 Dodgeball
Yesterday a team of Year 5/6 children took part in a dodgeball festival at Manor Farm. All the children enjoyed the event and worked well together as a team. The emphasis was on taking part and enjoying dodgeball. The children were well behaved and were great ambassadors for the school.

Girls Football
On Tuesday 26th November, the Year 5/6 girls football team played against Alumwell and won 3 - 0. Despite the scoreline it was a very close game. All the girls played well as a team and Evie in Year 5 enjoyed her debut!
The Year 5/6 girls football team also played away this week at Delves and won 3-2 in a very closely contested game. We scored first then they got the equaliser. At half-time it was 2-1 to us before they levelled the score half way through the second half. With 5 minutes to go, Ivy scored a spectacular goal to win the game at 3-2.
Boys football
A Year 5/6 boys football team played two matches on the astroturf at the Manor Community Association Centre. As other schools could not get there, we played on the bigger pitch which was appreciated by everyone.
We played Leighswood first and won 2-1 in a very closely contested match. We were 1-0 down but we continued playing football and managed to score twice to win the game.
After a break we then played against Delves and drew 0 - 0. We had the majority of possession but didn't manage to score a goal, although we think Ollie should have had a penalty in the dying minutes of the game!
Message from Sharon Kelly - Director of Access and Inclusion
We have been asked to share the following message from Sharon Kelly to our pupils, staff and parents/carers...
We would like to take this opportunity to ask for your support to remind everyone of the importance of maintaining good behaviour in the community when leaving school and heading home. Your students are ambassadors of your school, and their actions reflect on your entire school community and our borough. We kindly ask that you remind all children and young people of your school behaviour policy, both inside and outside school, and also the following guidelines:
1. Respect for Others: Be courteous and considerate to everyone you encounter. This includes fellow students, parents, school staff, and members of the public.
2. Safety First: Always use designated pedestrian crossings and follow traffic signals. Avoid running or playing near roads and ensure you are aware of your surroundings. Ensure you move through the town centre in a timely and safe fashion to make your connecting transport links home.
3. Proper Conduct: Use polite language and avoid any disruptive behaviour. Remember that your actions represent your school, and we expect you to uphold our values of respect and responsibility. Be conscious if you travel in large groups these could be frightening and intimidating to others, try to keep group sizes small and behaviour courteous.
4. Litter-Free Environment: Dispose of any litter in the appropriate bins. Keeping our community clean is a shared responsibility.
5. Uniform and Appearance: Wear your school uniform with pride and ensure it is neat and tidy. This helps to maintain a positive image of your school.
We appreciate your cooperation in reinforcing these expectations with your pupils. Together, we can ensure that our students continue to represent your school, and our borough, positively and contribute to a respectful and safe community.
Thank you for your support.

Reflexions - Have Your Say
Please see the flyer below. Reflexions are holding an open discussion with the National Team whose role is to inform the government regarding Mental Health provision in schools.
This is an opportunity for children, young people and parents to put their experiences and thoughts to the team. This can be in person or on teams, the link will get sent to students via email so they are then able to join the discussion.
